ACTIVITIES

DOG MEET & GREET

Approximately 1 hour / €25 per person

Come by Camp Thrymheim and meet our extraordinary dogs. You’ll learn all about their characteristics, breeding, feeding, and working with them. And of course, there will be plenty of cuddling and photo opportunities!

Since we’ll be visiting the dogs in their enclosures and giving them lots of pets, wear appropriate clothing that can get dirty.

The Meet & Greet is available in German, English, or Swedish and takes place year-round.

DOG ADVENTURE

Approximately 2.5 hours / €40 per person

Start: 08:00 AM (possibly at another time by arrangement)

Visit us at the camp and learn all about the daily work of the mushers and their dogs. Of course, you’ll also get hands-on experience! We start in the morning with feeding and then clean the enclosures. Depending on the weather, we’ll also take some of the dogs for a walk. And, of course, there will be plenty of cuddle time too.

Since you’ll be actively involved in cleaning the enclosures, dress appropriately in clothes that can get dirty.

The Dog Adventure is available in German, English, or Swedish and takes place year-round.

OUR DOGS

The origin of the Greenlandic name Kitana is unknown, yet we found it very fitting for her. She is very curious and prefers to test everything directly rather than wait. When she finds something new, she must explore it right away. She is very fearless and shows at a young age that she wants to go far.

In Norse mythology, Kaldr was the wolfhound of the goddess Skadi. Our Kaldr is undoubtedly the best singer in our kennel, which he gladly proves. In harness work, he was highly motivated from the beginning and quickly earned a place in the lead team. He is still quite young but enjoys testing how strong he has become and has great fun leading a whole team on the sled.

We named Katinka in honor of her breeder, Katinka Mossin, who has been well-known as a Greenland Dog breeder throughout Europe since the late 1970s. Like her sister Kitana, our little one enjoys exploring the world around her. She is very independent but always seeks contact with the people accompanying her on her journey.

Skadi is named after the Norse goddess of hunting and winter. She is an energetic, curious dog who has been taking on more and more of a leadership role since she has been with us. In training, she is always engaged and thoroughly enjoys exploring new things with us.

The sister of Katinka and Kitana is particularly affectionate. She likes to let her two sisters lead the way and then jumps after them on their shared exploration tours. Her name can be traced back to the Eurasian Jackdaw (bird). When she’s not busy playing with her two sisters, she especially enjoys cuddling with them or with the people around her.

DOG SPONSORSHIPS

BECOME A SPONSOR OF YOUR FAVORITE DOG AND BE PART OF ITS LIFE!

Our dogs at Camp Thrymhein are part of our family. However, they also require a lot of work, dedication, time, and love. Especially our Nordic breeds have high demands that are different from the needs of other family dogs. This is something we always have to explain to our guests, who usually fall in love with our beautiful and people-friendly dogs right away. Because these breeds are not suited for city life, let alone living in an apartment or in warm climates. If you still want to take on some responsibility and be part of our family, you can sponsor one of our furry friends. We offer various sponsorship options. In return, you will receive regular updates and photos of your dog and are welcome to visit them at any time. Additionally, you will receive a discount on our camp accommodations or activities. Every contribution goes towards our dogs, such as food, veterinary costs, and kennel maintenance.
